The most reliable and cost effective kind of advertising today is known as Affiliate Marketing – a type of revenue share and online advertising that works very well. Essentially, a webmaster is paid by a business to display ads on his website (either by the amount of clicks the ad generates or the amount of revenue it generates). Usually, digital affiliate marketing is the safest type of affiliate marketing, since it requires no liability from the company offering a product, nor for the affiliate who’s promoting it.
Affiliate marketing should not be confused with multilevel marketing (MLM) or network marketing, although many companies do make use of online network marketing techniques. Affiliate marketing functions differently, though, in the sense that the webmaster himself (the affiliate) earns an income, and does not sign up or register anyone into the program himself. Both forms can produce very good revenue for both parties involved, but multi-level marketing is an entirely different subject altogether.
While the pros and cons of affiliate marketing completely balance each other out, affiliate marketing offers several advantages over other programs. The main disadvantage of the program is that it’s hard to justify scaling up if your advertising is ineffective. The numerous poor ad management strategies have resulted in unsolicited commercial email, unapproved content, spam, or spamdexing – a website of little or no value.
